Healthquest

HealthQuest is a licensed non-profit pharmacy that provides free prescriptions to residents of Union, Anson, Stanly, Lancaster and Chesterfield counties who cannot afford prescriptions for their chronic medical conditions. HealthQuest helps people without prescription insurance or other reimbursement and who are without funds to buy maintenance medications. HealthQuest provides monthly medications for conditions such as high blood pressure, depression, high cholesterol, diabetes and many others.

We are a Silver Level Sponsor for Healthquest's Amazing Charity Challenge. Last year alone, they distributed 57,000 prescriptions valued at more than $10M to individuals in need -- the vast majority of these going to Union County residents. All proceeds from race team participation and sponsorships go toward the organization and help local families. One of our owners is on the Board of Healthquest.

Ronald McDonald House

Sport-A-Shirt

Sport-A-Shirt, Share-A-Night is a night when thousands of people at hundreds of companies across North Carolina will "sport" A Ronald McDonald House t-shirt in order to "share" a stay for one night at Ronald McDonald House with a family in need. Although it costs more than $89 to host a family for one night at Ronald McDonald House, families are asked to contribute $15 per night for their stay. For many families, even this small amount is a financial burden. Ronald McDonald House never turns a family away due to inability to pay, so they help offset these expenses with the Sport-A-Shirt day. Geological Resources pays for all employee shirts for this event and we wear them as a company on the designated date.

Meal Groups

GRI volunteers in groups of 4-6 to prepare a dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.- Grace I was unable to make the first Sport-A-Shirt italicized.  I also could not tab down to write the next “Meal Groups” portion.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Mrs. Brown (Our President, John Brown’s mother), Jackie Donnelly (GRI employee), are both survivors while Terry Kennedy’s aunt lost her battle to breast cancer and we walk in support/celebration of all of them (as well as all of our other friends and family members that have been affected by breast cancer) Our first GRI team was in 2012 and we walk every October and have raised thousands of dollars for this cause.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps necessary to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. They have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help! In support of gaining awareness, GRI has logoed one its trucks in pink with a pink awareness ribbon and our employees wear pink and white logoed shirts.
